Emotional maturity is the act of emotional awareness and cannot be overemphasized when we talk about the relationship. Of course, without it, one is said to be unequipped to talk about relationship and marriage. Emotional maturity when achieved affects who we are and definitely the way we behave toward other people we come across.

  1. KNOWING HOW/WHEN TO ASK FOR HELP

You don’t have to wait until the sea gets to your neck before you raise your hand for help. At times your emotions seem to eat you up, this is the time you need to ask for help. When you feel like you cannot handle it again, ask for help.

Don’t think that sharing a Facebook post is enough, talk to a friend or counsellor when the need arises. Doing this is a sign of emotional maturity.

  1. CONSCIOUS OF SENTIMENT 

You don’t allow sentiment to becloud your sense of judgement. In as much as you may not agree you are bias or sentimental toward some issues or topics be it religious, cultural or moral topics, you don’t have to condemn people who do not share similar ideology with you.

  1. ALLOWING VULNERABILITY 

People due to fear of being hurt in a relationship, shut the doors to scare people away from them. This happens especially when you have been hurt previously in a relationship. This shows you are emotionally immature and unfit but gradually without even knowing, this fear begins to fade away.

Now you are not afraid to love again because you can now face whatever comes your way in a relationship. This is a sign of emotional maturity.

  1. KNOWING WHEN TO QUIT

Quitting is never my word. All the same, you don’t have to kill yourself over certain things. No matter how you try, there are certain conditions in life that will always disagree to be fixed. Knowing when enough is enough.

Knowing when to walk away from that relationship that has refused to work no matter how you have tried to fix it, or that boss that has refused to acknowledge your efforts is a sign of emotional maturity.
